A Social- Emotional learning program working with the way of the horse psycho-education.
The program offers opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be supported by the
horses in a safe environment. New life skills can be learnt for personal growth, social and emotional wellbeing, gaining confidence and building healthy relationships. These life skills are transferable to home, school, work and social life situations.
The Horse Wisdom Program achieves this through the way of the horse;
Awareness
Noticing what is happening in the here and now, horses are masters of mindfulness.
What sensations/feelings are happening in the body in the moment. Awareness of what is happening in the environment through the senses. Thoughts that you have about yourself and others.
Relationships
Building healthy relationships, with trust, listening and mutual respect, having clear boundaries.
Thinking
Becoming aware of thoughts and the impact they have on yourself and others.
Boundaries
Your Yes and your No, horses set clear boundaries within the herd. What is OK and what is not OK for you; this includes, spatial, touch and verbal boundaries.
Taking charge of these boundaries.
Feelings
All feelings are important information about what is happenng at any given moment. They help to understand yourself and your needs and actions. Through the way of the horse we can start to notice our feelings, feel them, express them in a healthy way, then let them go.
Facing lifes challenges
The Horse Wisdom Program will help to build skills for the challenges that life can throw at us. These skills can help to accept and manage these feelings and thoughts that arise. Be able to support yourself and become creative, and ask for support when needed.
The Horse Wisdom Program is offered by me in the company of my horses in 6 sessions, weekly or fortnightly.
This can be done in groups or individually.
THIS CAN BE FUNDED THROUGH NDIS.
An experiential learning approach, In The Moment, allowing what is happening to emerge without intent or pre conceived ideas.
Horses give honest and non-judgemental feedback by picking up on body language and responding uniquely to each person, as it's occuring in the now.
In people this can evoke feelings and sensations in the body that horses have brought to our awareness. Acknowledging these feelings, anger, joy, fear or sadness we can learn how to express them in a healthy and respectful way.
Clarifying these feelings and emotions can help us recognise any unmet needs or wants we have, and things in our life that we do that may not be serving us well.
Experiential learning with the horses can help us to become unstuck and move forward in a healthy way, which can be utilised in every day life (by using what the horses have taught us about ourselves). This relationship created with our equine friends can bring clarity of our own relationships and how we act and respond to others and vice versa.
It is an excellent life-work learning curve for people who work in teams or team leaders/managers who run teams. Improving relationships with their co-workers can help to create harmonious and healthy working relationships. This is beneficial to companies as it can result in more output from happy, healthy workers.
Just 'being' with these beautiful animals and connecting with them in a peaceful, natural environment can help still a busy mind and bring a sense of calmness in to the body.
This is a great program for children and young people who have no or very little experience with horses.
Explore the world of the horse through fun activities and play.
Observe how horses behave in a herd and how they communicate with each other using their bodies.
Build a bond with your horse by giving them a nice treat of grooming and massage.
Learn how to care for your horses health and what the basic needs for horses are.
Build an obstacle course with your horse friend and lead them through it, either with a lead rope or at liberty (no head collar or lead rope), or take them for a walk along the trail.
We have kangaroo families (mob) living at our place which you will see hopping about with their adorable joeys.
You will only do what you feel comfy with, if that means just sitting and watching the horses on the outside of the fence that that is fine. Once you feel ok to do so you can meet your horse and become friends. Just watch your confidence and trust grow so you feel ready and safe to explore different ways of having fun with your horse.
This program can be in groups (4 max) or individually, no minimum or maximum sessions required.
ALL ACTIVITIES ARE EXPLORED IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT WITH A QUALIFIED PRACTITIONER.
